Tharseō was established as a Michigan LLC in December 2021 to help Detroit’s nonprofit, public and social entrepreneur community realize their most radical dreams. Tharseō, a Greek phrase meaning “take courage,” tackles some of the greatest equity challenges confronting our community. We partner with organizations to answer Shawn Dove ’s prolific question: “What would you do if you were ten times bolder?”

We live out five values-based characteristics in all of our work:

• Equity-driven: centering justice and liberation
• Compassionate: encouraging self + community care, maintaining space at the margins to allow for grace
• Authentic: showing up as our whole selves + holding space for others to do the same
• Hope-filled: operating with an abundance mindset, thriving in possibility
• Courageous: persevering in spite of fear + difficulty, standing up for what is right
